Welcome to Holy Name!

Holy Name is a Catholic parish serving the people of Wahroonga and neighbouring suburbs. We welcome all people to come along to our events and activites, especially the celebration of the Mass, regardless of your religious affiliation and background.

Take some time to look around our website - if you are interested in joining the parish, read some more about us, or come along and join us on Sundays. There is also information covering the Sacraments of Initiation program, welcoming children into the Church, and help for anyone preparing for marriage. You can also find the serving rosters, as well as those for the music teams, and contact information if you'd like to get involved with any part of our parish life.

Muriel 90 not out

This Sunday 18th May, Muriel Molnar celebrates her 90th birthday. Muriel is one of Holy Name’s favourite daughters. Although not starring in “Muriel’s Wedding”, she is busy about more important things. Muriel is our Number One LECTOR; when not doing that she serves in the Piety Store; is still catechising in state schools and is part of the ladies cleaning group who dust the church. Other than these activities, Muriel does nothing really!!! Muriel, we all love you to bits and congratulate you on being 90. Many HAPPY & HEALTHY returns and the Lord’s richest blessings on Sunday. Fr. Steve

Stephen Gannon

On Friday 16th May at 10.30am a Mass of Thanksgiving and Celebration was offered for the life of Stephen Gannon who died last Saturday 10th May at 4.10pm. At his funeral Mass we prayed that he be with the Lord in Paradise. We also prayed for his wife and “soul mate” of 25 years, Hilary and her children and Steve’s: Jack, Holly and Charlie. May we continue these prayers to express our heartfelt solidarity with Hilary and family. May the dear Lord and His Blessed Mother take you ALL gently one day at a time through your bereft journey ahead. We ARE ALL with you! Fr. Steve

WYD HomeStay

Thanks again to all the wonderful hosts who will be billeting pilgrims during World Youth Day. Holy Name is now at 130 confirmed beds for our overseas guests- ONLY 20 short of our parish goal. This is such a wonderful opportunity to experience the power of WYD and celebrate with youths from around the world. World Youth Day is July 14-21st. You can easily register to be a host family at www.wyd2008.org.au or contact Dona Gilbert on 9489-0535 or mdgilbert@optusnet.com.au.

Hosts attending Papal Mass: We are now confirming places at the papal mass on Sunday, 20th July. If you have registered to be a host, you are eligible to attend the papal mass (two adult tickets and any children 16 & under are also eligible to attend). You should have been contacted to confirm these numbers. If you have as yet not been contacted, please email Dona Gilbert at mdgilbert@optusnet.com.au.

Parish Dinner Dance

Our annual Parish Dinner Dance was held at Avondale Golf Club in Pymble on Saturday 3rd May 2008. A great night was had by all 110 people. Fr Steve particularly thanks Chrissy Goldrick and Frank Waldron who were the 2 principals in making it all happen. Have a look at some photos here...

Burma Cyclone

We remember in all our Masses this weekend the reported 100 000+ victims of the Burma Cyclone. We certainly commend their departed souls to the Lord. May we also heartfully reach out in prayer for the poorest of the poor who remain. May food, clothing, medicine and everything that is vitally needed reach those who are so desperately in need.
